Blossom cycle ride on Sunday 5th May

Hopefully this year our timing will be just right for spotting some blossom. I was hopelessly late last year and had almost completely missed it, though you will see from the photos that it was very pretty indeed.

The plan:

We are going to drive down with our bikes on our bike rack.

We’ll meet at Kesteren station as it is on the cycle route, between 12.00 and 12.15.

According to NS there is free parking there but I’m sure we can find somewhere nearby if necessary.

If you want to travel with your bikes by train, it looks to me as if the train from Den Haag via Utrecht to Rhenen might be faster with a 12 minute cycle across the Neder Rijn to Kesteren.

The blossom route I took last year was about 20km but we can play it by ear (or bottom!)

Gouda by Candlelight Arrangements for Tuesday 11th December.

Join us!  There are 5 of us signed up at the moment.  You are welcome to sign up below (see last week’s post) or just meet us at the station.

The plan is to meet at Den Haag Centraal or Gouda Centraal Station.

We will catch the 18.09 from platform 5 at Den Haag Centraal.  Let’s meet there at 18.00.

If you want to meet us at Gouda station, our train arrives at 18.26. We will meet at the main entrance on Stationsplein.

It is probably best to have eaten something before setting off and we will try and find some oliebollen and gluhwein to keep us going during the evening.

Latest Arrangements for Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads on Friday 30th November

For those who signed up to the meal Doodle, I have booked the Restaurant Il Panorama for 18.45 , a table for 10 upstairs in my name: Carolyn.

See you there unless we manage to meet on the train or at Amsterdam Centraal at 18.30.

If anyone would like to join me for the train journey, I am planning on catching the 17.32 from Den Haag, Mariahoeve.  It stops at Voorschoten at 17.36 and arrives Amsterdam Centraal at 18.26.

The performance starts at 20.30 at the Betty Asfalt Complex.

Up and Coming!

Tuesday 7th August.  

Let’s visit the Gemeentemuseum den Haag tomorrow while it’s raining! I shall be there at 10.50 am with my multi-entry key ring so we should all get in for free! Click here for more details of what’s showing.

Thursday 9th August

 A day out a bit further afield.

I came across the Kasteel Amerongen on my blossom cycle earlier in the year and have been planning on going back ever since. Click here to have a look.

I can offer 6 seats in my car and I am sure we could come up with further transport if needed. Sunday 29th July. Walk-Voorlinden to Meijendel and on to the beach if we feel up for it!

We will meet in the car park (See map) at 14.20 and will start the walk at 14.30.

The walk is through the woods and up onto the dunes,  where hopefully,  if it is a clear day, we will be able to see the ships . It is possible to choose,  at this point, to do a short walk round the Landgoed and back to the cars.

Next we will aim for the Boerderij at Meijendel which could take about an hour, if we don’t get lost!  ( Bring pocket money and or snacks as the cafe may be full.)

For the more intrepid amongst us we will carry on towards the beach. Finally, of course, we will have to find our way back.

From the Buurtweg. ( Ignore the signs at the entrance.  I have a permit.)  Follow the long driveway towards the big house.  You will eventually be directed to a car park on your left.  We will meet there. Dogs are allowed but only on a lead.
